LGBTQ+ Pillar

The LGBTQ+ Pillar focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues to ensure Merkle is a friendly and supportive workplace. We advocate for allyship to create an inclusive culture, and to promote Merkle as a welcoming employer of LGBTQ+ individuals.

LGBTQ+ in the workplace

At Merkle, we celebrate and recognise all LGBTQ+ identities, including those that are marginalised or less well represented. We actively demonstrate acceptance and inclusion both internally and on an outward-facing stage through thought leadership, events and publications. We are proud to say we are a Stonewall Diversity Champion and working towards being recognised on the next Stonewall UK Workplace Equality Index. It goes without saying we go big celebrating Pride, not just within our office but also with Merkle employees attending local Pride marches. But we also celebrate lesser-known dates and milestones throughout the year and show our employees that LGBTQ+ rights are not just something that we only care about for one week of the year. We give back to the LGBTQ+ community through charitable giving and outreach initiatives all year long.

A word from our pillar lead

Manager – Paid Search Academy

“Merkle is the first company where I’ve felt comfortable being fully open about my identity. The main thing I want to achieve through heading up the pillar is ensuring others (regardless of their gender identity/expression or sexual orientation) feel safe and supported in doing the same. Over the time I’ve been pillar lead, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a fantastic group of people who’re passionate about raising awareness of, educating on and celebrating LGBTQ+ identities. We’ve shared articles, infographics and links; run fundraising, awareness-driving and social events; and are building a network our colleagues can rely on.”
