Merkle to Present at Advertising Week

September 17, 2013
Columbia, MD

Merkle (www.merkle.com), a leading customer relationship marketing (CRM) firm and the nation’s largest privately held agency, today announced that three leaders in its customer experience group will be speaking at Advertising Week’s 10th Anniversary conference. Mark Weninger, chief creative officer, Ed Illig, vice president, group creative director, and Bart Heird, interactive creative director, will lead sessions during the premier annual gathering of marketing, media and communications leaders. The event, being held September 23-27, 2013 in New York City, will focus on key business drivers which shape and influence the global industry.

Ed Illig and Bart Heird will kick off Advertising Week with an exciting workshop entitled, Don’t Choke On the Data: How to rise above the information layer when creating customer experiences, on Monday, September 23rd at 2:00p.m., at Lucille’s inside B.B. King Blues Club. The afternoon session will focus on the ability to use volumes of data to our advantage within the creative process, while also avoiding the pitfalls and roadblocks that come with our access to such abundant consumer knowledge.

On Thursday, September 26th at 1:00p.m., Mark Weninger will deliver a provocative session on the main stage at B.B. King Blues Club entitled, Big Data and The Death of The Big Idea. Weninger will present a unique point of view and moderate a panel of respected advertisers including:  Melissa Grady, vice president, eBusiness, MetLife; and Emily Culp, former director of social strategy and emerging platforms, Unilever. This session will survey the realities of managing and measuring the contributions of big data and big ideas in the marketing mix, and suggest a radically redefined definition for the advertising industry. Attendees will hear first-hand client accounts of whether functionality and measurability have combined to kill creativity, and where advertisers are placing their bets in today’s experienced economy.
