Video: Introducing TechnicalSEO.info for Technical SEO Best Practices

TechnicalSEO.info is a set of technical SEO topics with examples and tools, to help you make your website technically search engine friendly.

Merkle|RKG is proud to announce the launch of www.technicalseo.info. This website, accessible by all, provides information and working examples of technical SEO concepts.

Technical SEO is defined by configurations that can be implemented to the website and server (e.g. page elements, HTTP header responses, XML Sitemaps, redirects, meta data, etc.). Technical SEO work has either a direct or indirect impact on search engine crawling, indexation and ultimately ranking.

Why TechnicalSEO.info?

The internet is undoubtedly the greatest place to find information on any kind of topic. While this interweb is often reliable, it is also vast and information is often diluted through many websites.

Because technical SEO recommendations can sometimes be very granular and distinct, we want to provide best practice documentation with code representations and examples, all in one place.

SEO can be boiled down to three core elements, or functions: crawling (discovery), indexation, and ranking. Therefore, the content on TechnicalSEO.info is structured as follow:

  • Crawl and Indexation: directives (e.g. robots.txt), annotations (e.g. canonical tags), website configuration (e.g. mobile site), page elements (e.g. meta description), etc.
  • Rank and SERP: duplicate content, rich snippets, sitelinks, etc.
  • Other topics: information on larger topics such as A/B testing, inventory management, site migration, etc.

Also, the site provides a few really handy SEO tools such as an XML Sitemap submission form, a Google SERP simulator, a locale-adaptive checker, etc.

TechnicalSEO.info - SEO Tools

There are a few words to say about the site configuration itself. More than listing SEO best practices and providing recommendations, we wanted this website to be a working example of best practices and technically perfect.

TechnicalSEO.info is built with Twitter Bootstrap and Google AngularJS. Bootstrap framework allows us to make the site responsive to different devices, and AngularJS allows us to leverage the HTML5 History API (a.k.a “pushState”).

Using this API with an AJAX configuration, we can create a great user experience by allowing our visitors to navigate the site without loading time.

Finally, note that TechnicalSEO.info is an ever ongoing project – more topics and tools are to come and we encourage anyone to use the comment sections on pages to give use feedback, suggestions and ask questions.
