Job Description:

Do you have a passion for working with the latest technologies, are focused on delivering solutions that solve customers' challenges, and succeed in a team environment? As a Cloud Systems Administrator at Merkle, you will work as part of a team providing solution implementation and delivery across cloud and on-premises environments. Reporting to the IT Director, you will provide client solutions, environmental performance measurement, analysis, and tuning in a cloud hosting environment. You will support all aspects of cloud technologies with a focus on new solution implementation by supporting developers of new cloud-based platforms; this may include after-hours support, participation in the incident assessment, and following a good troubleshooting process.


  • Support and understand the design and implementation/delivery of global, cost-effective, enterprise-class cloud-based solutions following DevOps practices
  • Gather requirements, develop the delivery plan for solution and services milestones, manage expectations, and coordinate delivery with developers and other client team members
  • Be a project lead around additional software and platform-defined services.
  • Respond to issues and facilitates resolution, including service quality plans to ensure stable, reliable, and available cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with cloud service providers to develop and refine compliance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor system availability and performs ongoing performance tuning and resource optimization with cloud service providers.
  • Maintain documentation of cloud resources, and build checklists, scripts, and diagrams.
  • Maintain in-depth awareness and fluency of the main functions and industry trends around the area of expertise.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise-class solutions operating in a 24/7 environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services components, including EC2, S3, ELB, Cloud trail, Data Pipeline
  • Expertise with Linux operating system environment.
  • Knowledge of cloud security concepts, including Firewall, VPCs, Encryption, Authentication, and Authorization (SSO, Active Directory/LDAP) strategies
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools, such as Chef, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Understanding of version control systems, such as Git.
  • Expertise with web and DB applications, such as Apache, Nginx, and MySQL
  • Enterprise productization processes, including developing product guides, asset management, data protection, capacity management, performance management, and lifecycle management.
  • Enterprise System Management tools.
  • Proficient in scripting (Bash – PowerShell).
  • Experience security best practices in server configuration, tool development, and access controls.
  • Versed in administering Linux or other Unix variants (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, or Solaris) in a production environment.

Bonus Points for:

  • Certifications within the engineering discipline and Cloud industry (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Kubernetes (K8S), and Terraform
Additional Information:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,000 - $ 146,000. Salary is based on several factors, including relevant experience, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and other benefits are available.
