Merkle, (www.merkle.com) a leading technology-enabled, data-driven customer experience management company and part of dentsu, announces that Margaret Wagner, president EMEA, has been named as a 2021 honouree in the Excellence in Leadership category of Consulting Magazine’s Women Leaders in Technology Awards.
Margaret is the president of Merkle and CEO of dentsu’s Customer Experience Management (CXM) Service Line for the EMEA region, a business of 3,500 people with revenue of $400 million. She was named one of the 2021 dataIQ 100 most influential people in data and as an active member of Merkle’s diversity and inclusion program, she supported the launch of the firm’s global internal ‘Women in Leadership’ initiative.
Margaret said: “It’s about creating a very clear pathway to get women into the IT management and consulting category, which has been predominantly a male dominated area of work. We are now seeing changes not just around women in management but through education, in what women and young girls are choosing to study. I always say, “make sure when you get somewhere that you’re pulling other women behind you” – for me, that’s important: to allow people to see others that look like them at the top of their field. This award represents a great opportunity for that to happen.”
Consulting Magazine said: “The role of women in the technology field is essential. Women leaders in technology fields are often overlooked, but particularly in the consulting profession—where three-quarters of the industry is male, especially in the upper ranks. And that number is even greater in technology circles. To the women in tech, Consulting Magazine sees you and we recognise the impact you are making every single day. We know it’s not easy, so we want to shine a light on the work you do day in and day out because it is so vital. The diversity of thought and style you bring is much needed and absolutely necessary for your firm’s and your clients’ success.”
Consulting’s Women Leaders in Technology Awards launched in 2020, recognising women leaders in technology for excellence in three categories—Leadership, Client Service and Innovation. The winners will be highlighted in the May 2021 issue of Consulting Magazine (w/c May 24) and were celebrated through a virtual programme on May 20, 2021.
