UX Designer

Creative & Experience

Göteborg

About the job

The purpose of this role is to be creative task-based problem solvers who are passionate about creating experiences that engage the imagination whilst empowering users to bring the brand to life. This role could include elements of Product, UI and Visual design. Involved in projects from the beginning, UX Designers work closely with lead designers to help produce the experience vision from concept to finished product.

We are Merkle

We are on the lookout for an experience architect (UX Designer) within UX to join our Swedish Experience Design team, located both in Gothenburg and Stockholm. We believe you’re obsessed with understanding people — their needs, behaviors, and motivations — and turning those insights into intuitive and meaningful user experiences. We call them Experience Architects: problem-solvers who craft seamless journeys and thoughtful interactions across digital platforms.

Our passion for creating what’s right, combined with our eye for detail and functionality, defines who we are and how we love to work. With creativity at the core of our process, we constantly challenge our clients and guide them toward the future.

As part of Merkle — the customer experience company — we deliver experiences that create real impact throughout the customer journey. We deeply understand users, business goals, and the tech that binds it all together. We’re data-informed and leave little to chance.

We’re a curious, T-shaped team that thrives on learning and growing together. We don’t believe in handovers within the team— you’ll be encouraged to take part in all phases of the design process, from research and ideation to prototyping and validation.

What we do

Digital is the core of our projects. Sometimes, UX research, sometimes it's wireframing, and sometimes it's ideation workshops; nonetheless, the work we do in the experience design team is based on design thinking with 3 distinct phases: Discovery, Concept and Delivery.

In the discovery projects, we focus on understanding the problem, the users, and the broader context. It involves gathering insights through research methods like interviews, observations, and data analysis. The goal is to empathize with users, uncover their needs and pain points, and build a solid foundation for defining the right problem to solve. This phase is all about curiosity, open-minded exploration, and setting the stage for creative, user-centered solutions.

In Concept projects, we wear our most creative hat, joining brainstorms, visual explorations, pitching ideas, and asking questions. Ultimately, being a driving force towards, whatever is the vision set for our client - which often involves pitching and presentations. When working with concepts, every idea counts. There is no hierarchy, and we believe team members should get the opportunity to challenge themselves and what they know, no matter their level of expertise.

In Delivery projects, we collaborate closely with Experience designers and development to hand over wireframes, prototypes and specifications for implementation. This is where the love for our craft is at its purest. We work with the highest standards of UX and Interaction design. We work in sprints using an agile setup.

Who you are

You’ll play a key role in shaping the user experience across our digital projects — always with the end user in focus. You are passionate, driven, and have a natural curiosity about how people interact with products and services. You’re eager to explore new ideas and aren’t afraid to question assumptions or push boundaries.

You’re constantly looking for that extra spark — the insight or interaction that elevates a solution from good to great. You inspire your team with your energy and your ability to connect dots others might miss. You’re not afraid to get hands-on with all types of challenges that help you grow — both professionally and personally. You bring solid experience in UX design, including user research, journey mapping, wireframing, and prototyping. Experience with design systems is a plus. You’re also comfortable in client-facing situations, helping shape the UX agenda and advocating for user needs in every conversation.

Qualifications

Preferably, you have 3+ years' experience, but it depends mostly on your own maturity.

Required knowledge and skills:

  • You excel in creating intuitive user flows, thoughtful information architecture, and interaction patterns that align with a brand’s personality, voice, and values in digital experiences.
  • You have some experience in UX research — from gathering insights through user interviews or usability testing, to translating data into actionable design improvements.
  • UX principles and best practices are second nature to you — from accessibility to usability, you’re always designing with the user in mind.
You challenge assumptions and explore unexpected ideas. You bring creative thinking to solving user and business problems in fresh, innovative ways.
You can juggle multiple projects and iterations with ease, staying flexible while keeping an eye on the details that matter.
  • You manage your time efficiently, take ownership of your work, and ensure your part of the project moves forward smoothly and on schedule.
  • You’re skilled in modern design tools like Figma and FigJam, and use them to bring ideas to life through wireframes, prototypes, and design systems.
  • You have real-world UX case studies that show how you approached problems, collaborated with others, and improved the user experience.
  • You present your work with clarity and confidence, adapted to the audience — explaining your rationale, not just showing deliverables.
  • You’re comfortable with client interaction and know how to respond to feedback constructively while maintaining strong relationships.
  • You’re a collaborative and approachable team player, both internally and when working closely with clients.
  • You have solid experience in designing for web and app platforms, and stay up to date with UX best practices across both.

It’s a big plus if you have knowledge and experience of the following:

  • B2B and complex organizations
  • Agile methodologies
  • Conversion rate optimization (CRO)
  • SEO
  • Data & analytics (Google Analytics, Hotjar etc)
  • CMS systems and experience platforms
