Best of Swiss Apps Award 2019: Namics holt Gold mit Tamedia-App „FuW jetzt“

Swiss financial app convinces with progressive, user-centered design

Namics, the leading full-service digital agency from Switzerland, has won a gold award at the Best of Swiss Apps Award (BOSA) with the Tamedia app "FuW jetzt". With its intuitive design and clear design language, the application guides users through the entire trading day. They receive current and exclusive content that adapts to the daily schedule and the available reading time of the users - for example with longer contributions on weekends. The media group Tamedia and Namics thus convince the BOSA expert jury and receive an award in the "Design" category. The award honours innovative, successful applications and is the result of an initiative by Best of Swiss Web GmbH, the Swiss Internet Industry Association and Netzmedien AG. It will take place for the seventh time this year. The winning projects from ten categories were awarded at the award ceremony on 6 November in Zurich.

User-centered, interdisciplinary project development

Together with Tamedia, the digital experts at Namics have developed the "FuW jetzt" app for their traditional newspaper "Finanz und Wirtschaft". The app offers the medium a channel that can be quickly updated, through which it reaches a younger target group and focuses on the needs and habits of mobile users. In order to integrate a user-centred view into the project from the outset, the Namics experts brought readers, editors and publishing house managers together at one table. As an interdisciplinary team, they developed central cornerstones for the subsequent implementation of the project.

Competent accompaniment through the trading day

The "FuW jetzt" solution competently accompanies its users throughout the entire trading day. They receive new information on an ad hoc basis - they can subscribe to push notifications for news offers in various categories, which are tailored precisely to their needs. The content and presentation of the articles (articles, interviews, graphics and videos), which the editorial team selects specifically for the app, are based on the course of a trading day. FuW thus focuses on current and relevant content that exactly fits the hectic everyday life of the users and offers them a decisive advantage. When the stock exchange is closed on weekends and holidays, the app presents users with longer articles. The content is thus optimally suited to the respective situation and available reading time.

Clear design - facts and figures in the foreground

The design of the app is reduced to clear design elements. Calm lines and design vocabulary focus on presented data and facts. The financial news of the day on the start screen are arranged optically by a colour gradient analogous to the course of the stock exchange day. Users can scan this content by time axis at a glance and intuitively switch between individual articles and detail pages by means of simple navigation. In addition to the relevance of the content, the FuW app impresses with its clarity and comprehensibility in its overall concept. The BOSA expert jury, which awarded "FuW jetzt" gold in the "Design" category, also sees it this way.
